A “Schengen-Visa” (short stay visa) enables you to travel for a maximum of 90 days within 6 months to all Schengen states. The German Mission is responsible for processing your application if Germany is your main destination. You should apply for a visa through the German Mission if Germany is your main destination (where you are having your longest stay during your visit to the Schengen area).

Information about Schengen Visa

Purpose: Tourism, business, visit, medical treatment, sports tournament, transit, artists / culture etc.

Applying for the Visa:

The Consulate works exclusively with the external service provider VFS Global in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The external service provider supports you in submitting your application and forwards it to the Visa Section of the German Consulate in Dubai.

In the UAE, all visa applications are processed and decided upon by the German Consulate General in Dubai. Nevertheless please observe the jurisdiction of the respective Visa Application Centers:

Applicants residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates need to submit their applications at VFS Global in Dubai. Applicants residing in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain need to submit their applications at VFS Global in Abu Dhabi.

Please make sure to submit all related and required documents. Missing documents or information can lead to a rejection.

When to apply

Application can be submitted up to 6 months prior to the date of travel.

Processing time:

The Visa Section will review your application and make a decision on whether or not to grant you a visa. To this end, it will assess whether your application meets the legal requirements.

The processing can take up to 15 days.

Visa Fees

Regular visa fees are to be paid in UAE Dirham (AED). Current exchange rate of the Consulate applies.

-Adults (category C):: 90,00 Euro

-Children between 6 and 11 years (category C): 45 Euro

Return of Passport

Once the processing is completed, the passports will be returned back through our external service provider VFS Global.
