Wilhelm Richard Wagner (1813 – 1883) is considered one of the most important innovators of European music in the 19th century. In 1876, he founded the Bayreuth Festival dedicated exclusively to the performance of his own works in Bayreuth, renowned for their spectacular performances.

Under the artistic direction of Katharina Wagner, great granddaughter of the renowned composer, his musical drama The Valkyrie will be performed for the first time outside of Germany at the Bayreuth Festival in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Over 100 musicians and singers will perform the full operatic masterpiece at the Emirates Palace on 30 January and 1 February 2019. The unique production will include a feature length film simultaneously playing in the background, telling the story of The Valkyrie and revisiting the main locations that inspired Richard Wagner’s work. H.E. Minister of State Zaki Nusseibeh and Katharina Wagner are among the speakers of the panel discussion.
